30 Day Grey Dress Challenge

What Is The 30 Day Grey Dress Challenge?

WHAT DO I DO?
It is easy. For one month or thirty days, you wear the same grey dress, outfit or item.

WHY ARE WE DOING THIS?
We are raising money to donate to two separate organizations. This year, participants have the choice of donating the money they fundraise to either Survivor's Ink or the Renee Jones Empowerment Center.
These two organizations have separate pages on the site if you wish to learn more, but overall they aim to provide opportunities to women and young adolescents who are in desperate need.
Survivor's Ink and the Renee Jones Empowerment Center are raising awareness about human trafficking, working directly with those who have been trafficked and helping them heal and build their lives with love and support. The One Grey Dress Project asks participants to challenge themselves and their world to look deeper into these issues, and possibly donate in the process.

Our month of fundraising and awareness has a goal set at 6K, helping to provide these two organizations with what they need to continue growing their outreach.

CAN I WEAR MORE THAN ONE THING? CAN I CHANGE?
Most people do not wear more than one dress. However, if this poses too much of a challenge, you can alternate between two options. One item of clothing (shirt, jacket, jeans) the whole thirty days or you can wear one dress. Mostly, it is up to you! The goal is to challenge yourself and walk a month in the shoes of those who are being trafficked, who have no choice.
If you need to change for work, exercise, or sleeping... that is completely understandable! We don't expect participants to sleep in their grey dresses/outfit or wear them in the shower! You can wash the outfit. You can accessorize your outfit however you choose. The point is to just feel the uncomfortable quality of not having a choice of what to wear. By wearing the same piece of clothing for thirty days, you can feel a small piece of the isolation, oppression, and enslavement felt by girls and women worldwide in human trafficking and impoverishment.

HOW DO I FUNDRAISE?
You can join our team by filling out your information on the Contact page. This will allow you to be involved with our weekly meetings, and updates on what we will be doing throughout the month of April.

You can share information on social media about Your Body, Your Temple and information about the Non- Profit Organizations and why they are in need of help. There will be links to our page and the donation sites.

We would LOVE if you could please  take a picture of you wearing your grey dress/outfit (AND your Red Sand) every day to raise awareness and grab people's attention.

(You can like our page and tag our page for pictures and comments and feel free to use our hastag - #YBYT and #RedSandProject!)

DO I HAVE TO DONATE?
As the participants of the project, we should lead by example, whether that's donating $5 or $100, let your heart decide.
